Narbeh Derhacobian
Chief Executive Officer
Narbeh joined GuRu recently as its CEO. Narbeh has over 25 years of experience in leading-edge technology companies. From 2007 to 2020, he was the President and CEO of Adesto Technologies (Nasdaq: IOTS), a company he co-founded in 2007. Narbeh led Adesto from its founding and early financing rounds to IPO. Adesto was acquired by Dialog Semiconductor in 2020 for enterprise value of over $500M. Prior to its merger with Dialog Semiconductor, Adesto had over 2,000 customers in industrial, consumer, communication, and medical segments at an annual revenue run rate of $120M/year. Under Narbeh’s leadership, Adesto was selected as a Red Herring Top 100 North America winner for 2014 and was recognized as the Top Emerging Growth Company of 2019 by the Association of Corporate Growth in Silicon Valley. Narbeh’s prior experience includes senior management roles at Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.(Nasdaq: AMD), Virage Logic Corporation (Nasdaq: VIRL), Cswitch, and Silicon Storage Technology, Inc. (Nasdaq:SSTI). He was the CEO of Parabellum Acquisition Corp. (NYSE: PRBM) from 2020 – 2023, a SPAC focused on IoT hardware and software companies. Narbeh has over 50 issued patents in the area of semiconductor devices. He holds a Ph.D. in physics from UCLA (1992) and an M.B.A. from the San Jose State University (1999).
Behrooz Abiri
Co-Founder & Chief Technology Officer
A hardware hobbyist and International Physics Olympiad gold medalist—Behrooz has always been an avid inventor. He’s spent his life studying, learning, and exploring emerging technologies. His work at GuRu stems from a wish to share miraculous technology with the world at large.
At GuRu, Behrooz is responsible for the ongoing development of core technology and system architecture. Under his leadership, GuRu’s millimeter-wave technology has been developed into an accessible consumer product. Before GuRu, Behrooz helped develop system design and architecture in Caltech’s Space Solar Power Initiative. He holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Caltech.
Richard Weiss
Vice President, Strategic Growth and Partnerships
Richard joined GuRu Wireless in 2023 to lead strategic engagements and critical programs. Richard has over 30 years of experience in leading-edge technology companies spanning large public corporations such as Hewlett Packard and Texas Instruments to mid-size public and private companies as well as significant start-up experience. Richard has led product and technology development, product management and marketing, business development, and sales organizations and has also led successful M&A efforts in both public and private companies. He holds a Bachelor of Science, Mechanical Engineering (BSME), Metallurgical and Materials Science Engineering University of Illinois.
Seyed Attaran
Vice President, Operations and Quality
Seyed joined GuRu in 2023 as the Vice President of Operations and Quality. He brings with him more than 25 years of experience in the global semiconductor manufacturing and quality management operations. Seyed was previously with Google Cloud, where he led the risk management for the manufacturing of semiconductor devices and integrated systems used in rapid deployment and operation of hyperscale datacenters around the world. Prior to that, Seyed held various executive operations roles at Adesto Technologies, MACOM, and AMCC where he was responsible for production ramp, product testing, and delivery of billions of semiconductor devices to top tier customers. He also held a variety of leadership roles with PLX Technology, Genesis Microchip, and Sipex Corporation. Seyed attended the University of California, Davis and began his semiconductor career as a process engineer and holds patents in the area of integrated circuit fabrication and packaging.
Ali Hajimiri
Chairman of the Board, Co-Founder, & Chief Scientific Advisor
Ali is an inventor, entrepreneur, leading academic, and an expert in high frequency integrated circuits and systems. He is a fellow of the National Academy of Inventors, an IEEE fellow, a TR35 world top innovator, and a named inventor on more than 100 issued patents. Ali and his team are responsible for technological advances including millimeter-wave integrated phased arrays, CMOS RF power amplifiers, and optical phased arrays. Ali’s work at GuRu is motivated by a desire to connect seemingly unrelated things. He believes that innovation should lead to meaningful, humanistic change.
Before GuRu, Ali co-founded Axiom Microdevices, where CMOS power amplifiers shipped over 400 million units (and were based on the DAT technology he co-invented at Caltech). He also worked at Philips Semiconductors and Lucent Technologies (Bell Labs) advancing various RF technologies. He joined the faculty of Caltech in 1998, where he holds the Bren Chaired Professorship in Electrical Engineering and Medical Engineering, Directorship of the Holistic Integrated Circuit Laboratory, as well as co-Directorship of the Space Solar Power Project. Ali received his B.S. degree in Electronics Engineering from Sharif University of Technology, and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University.
